First Week of Class (第一週的中文課)

The pinyin "BINGO" played in class on Wednesday.

Monday (星期一)

Morning Class: First day of class consisted of tone pronunciation and pinyin. My tone pronunciation can always use some work, but pinyin is too basic. I wish I was practicing reading in characters.

Afternoon Class: This class is supposed to be reading class, but we practiced speaking about the same topics as the previous classes. I think I have my classmate's numbers memorized by how many times I've had to say 「你的電話幾號?」which means "what is your phone number?"

Afternoon Class: This class is only an hour long compared to the other classes which are two hours. This class is our listening class, we actually practiced listening today. It was great, and I found it very engaging to be able to understand the words I heard. I wrote the responses in characters, while my classmates wrote in pinyin.

NOTE: To my classmates at VCU, make sure you study traditional characters so that you can avoid being placed in the beginner class. Also, make sure you know how to write the characters, Wenzao does not use computers for class and therefore does not do their quizzes and tests online. Thus, you must hand write the characters!
